Fake fur, lace, armchair
The outline of a figure embedded into an armchair plays with the ambiguous nature of the domestic object and contemplates the mixture of comfort and dread that can be found in the domestic scene. Reminiscent of flesh and scarred tissue the vibrant armchair presents itself as eerily attractive yet repulsive. In this durational performance, a symbiosis of the animate and inanimate comes into being. The background turns into the foreground with its materiality taking central shape. The longing to hide, to melt into a chair is both comforting and horrific to me at the same time. To find a place where you can disappear. The stillness of the performer resists the tendency to speed up. In this stillness something unsettling can be found as this ryhtm has grows into something unnatural.
