The beautiful yet disturbing image of a girl floating in a magician’s like water tank is an excerpt from a durational performance. While the girl is gasping for breath inside cold water, the alluring yet dark attraction of this spectacle evokes an unsettling sensation. The romantic image is disturbed by the gasping noises coming out of the watertank. The viewer is put in the uncomfortable position of being mesmerised by the beauty of the image and horrified by what is in essence happening in front of them. As a viewer you are not safe in digesting the theater. The spectator is a participant as well.
